Art & Beauty
There are some really beautiful things to look at over at Efendi! Marvellous work.
Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder as they say, even though it is your third eye you sometimes have to use in order to see the true beauty in people. Sadly enough, it is very rare that the three eyes follow each other in terms of determining beauty in all areas. Alas, I’ve met women whom I truly was at ease with and with whom I had a lot in common with. We were almost friends, or sometimes I’ve hooked up with truly beautiful women, but - and this could make me fall on my knees and ask “Why!!!?” - I could simply not fall in love with them. And this bugged me like hell. Then I realised that I have this thing, as my favourite writer Haruki Murakami writes in his novel, “South of the Border, West of the Sun”, and that explains it pretty well:
I was always attracted not by some quantifiable, external beauty, but by something deep down, something absolute. Just as some people have a secret love for rainstorms, earthquakes, or blackouts, I liked that certain undefinable something directed at me by members of the opposite sex. For want of a better word, call it magnetism. Like it or not, it’s a power that ensnares people and reels them in. The closest comparison might be the power of perfume. [snip] And I have the ability from far away, to sniff out those special scents [only meant for me]. When I do, I want to go up to the girl who radiates this aura and say, “Look, I picked it up. No one else gets it, but I do.”

i always thought that love is pretty much hard to describe in words, but I think Murakami got it smack down.
Now I can see why you are so eagerly waiting for his new book

Hey Mas- loved that little passage from Murakami, I will keep my eyes open for that novel and scoop it up sometime soon.
Strangely enough, I feel the same way about certain young men and their blogs on the ‘net ~wink~
