X-mas galore

Christmas. Phew. Even though I’ve bought most of my Christmas presents already, I still need to find the hardest ones - you know, the gifts for the people you know who either have everything or for the ones whose lives you’re not quite up-to-date with and therefore have absolutely no idea what to give. I was contemplating doing a trick my old friend Tony did some years ago, giving all the money he should have used on Christmas gifts to charity, not wanting to receive any gifts in return, but then I hesitated. After all, it is something that is expected of you no matter how small a gift you give, and you are also happy to get something yourself. One could argue that the day itself and the getting together with the family should be a gift in itself, but tradition is tradition I guess, the “thing” we have instead of natural born instincts.

By the way - I’m going to London this forthcoming weekend - yahoo! Finally some days away from this country. I haven’t been abroad (except for two Christmas evenings with my family in Stockholm, Sweden) in two years, so I’m looking forward to it, going away with my girlfriend. Then of course, I’m visiting Sweden for Christmas. I always go into TravelBoy™-mode in the holidays with my family scattered around all over Denmark and Sweden. Are you going out of town for Christmas?

  1. the pictures are really nice! i wish it gets christmasy here in singapore, but all we can hope for is a little less of the balmy humid weather. It rained the whole of yesterday and i was ecstatic! :)

  2. Have a fun time in London Massi.. buy lots of stuff ya don’t need.. and some stuff ya do!

Lots of peeps complain about Xmas, I am so glad you are not one of those. I love it too, I always will.

The over eating, the presents, the tree, the good company, the wine (particularly the wine) the holidays (a week long one here), the cards, the torn wrapping paper piles when the pressies are opened, excited little kids getting over tired, harassed mothers, drunken fathers.

I have both ex husbands and all my kids and their partners for lunch and everyone has a high old time.

I wish you and your girlfriend a really wonderful Xmas and don’t forget to visit the splats before the holidays begin.

    Lotsalove …

Gee, thanks for your nice comments, and may you also have a wonderful Christmas! I’ll see if I’ll get the time to make my yearly [?} Christmas Card® and wish you all a merry one. Say hello to both Singapore and Australia for me (where in Australia are you from Rosi, Anyway?)

  4. i do envy you for getting all your christmas presents done.. I’m not even halfway, and i’m already broke! I’m scouting for stuff that I can make at home, and low cost, but then i’m no martha stewart.. :(
