Last month, I got a question from my mother which she has *never*, ever asked me before: “What are your future plans now?”. That one floored me… Didn’t know what to say, actually, since I don’t have any right now, trying to change lanes and begin a new life, and since I also regard myself as being a ‘day-2-day’-kind of person, taking one step at a time. Whatever. Other people’s expectations have been important to me in the past, but I have learned and still have to learn to not give a damn unless I’m getting really good advice from people I respect… It is ultimately my life I have to live, not anybody else’s and even though my mother probably didn’t meant to be inquisitorial and filled with expectations for my future life, it is still good to take the advice from someone, who’s ‘been there, done that, bought the mug’. I think she just wants to see me being happy, that’s all. And I have to respect her for that.
