Latte, existentialism and light grafitti
Okay, I hope you’re bored. Perhaps you’ll be bored when Easter arrives. Anyway. Here’s a couple of links (and a lot of yadda-yadda):
Latte Art. Do I have to say any more?
We have decided not to die. A brilliant little movie. Very well done. Moody and slick.
PIPS:Lab - nice use of “Bullet Time” (the “Matrix”-3D-’trick’) and graffiti made with light. They call it “Lumasol”. If you wonder how they do it, I will take a guess at it beneath this entry.
At last, but not least, Matthew Mahon is a very good photographer, and his web site is no less than addictive. Very nice idea, Matthew!! This is Flash at its best.

My guess at how “Lumasol” is made:
The 3D cameras (several SLR’s, connected to a single remote switch positioned in an arc pointing toward the subject) are placed in front of the performer and his background. Then the lights go out.
With the remote switch, in total darkness, all cameras are activated, the shutters open and while they are still open, the artist does his thing with a small flash light. For those of you who do not know how shutters work, I can tell you that it is the shutters that lets light (and therefore the image) from the lens into the camera and onto the film (or chip, if it’s a digital camera). So the only light registered will be from the flash lights that the artist use since everything else is in total darkness.
Then Right before the shutters are closed, a flash is triggered, so that the image of the artist gets ‘burned’ onto the final image. Then all photos from all cameras are combined and played back like you see on the Flash movie and it looks like the graffiti and the person has been captured in ‘3D’.
If you know exactly how it’s done, or if you have any comments on the subject, do not hesitate! I am a geek after all..! %-D
