- the stuff between your ears

Anybody out there?

According to usability guru Jakob Nielsen, I break the following rules:

  1. Irregular Publishing Frequency (#7)
  2. Nondescript Posting Titles (#3)
  3. Classic Hits are Buried (#5 - Do I have any?)
  4. Mixing Topics (#8)

…the last one probably being my biggest fault. Now, I’m not using my blog in order to get widespread recognition and a huge amount of traffic, I probably just use it a bit for myself, like any other personal diary (which a lot of blogs are). And I do have one part of my web site, which is the main attractor regarding visitors (the Riven page), which clearly reflects rule number 8: Mixing topics - that a clear overall topic on a blog attracts more focused (and frequent) visitors.
And I have less visitors these days, because I haven’t posted a lot of photos recently, hence the “Anybody out there?”-title.

So, what am I trying to say? That I miss people? Perhaps. That I wished I was more focused? Not really, actually. I’m a diverse kinda guy, so is my blog. But perhaps I should focus more on my different categories, dividing my layout into distinct categories, so that “focused” people would pay a visit? Hmmm…

Anyway, I’m just talking to myself here… I think I’ll bring up one of my old entries again soon, just to spice things up a bit…

  1. I can only speak for myself Massimo, but I pop in here every now and again, to check out whats happening in that space between your ears. I don’t need any particular topic or stream to get me back, just my own idle curiosity!
I do like your photos, and sometimes your links are great .. but really, I guess I am just a stickybeak.
You could be following all Jakob’s rules and I would still be visiting with the randomness with which I visit now.
Anyway .. hi from the big brown land downunder and keep on blogging please.
    happy days .. Rosi
