Machinima

A whole sub-culture of moviemakers, making movies with games, has emerged over the past few years. People are collaborating all over the world, making small cinematic experiences with the use of tools for games like Halo, Quake II and more. Some unique small movies, which are called “machinima” [Wikipedia] (a portmanteau of machine cinema or machine animation), has risen from this corner of the digital realm, such as a re-creation of the famous court scene in A few good men, or the first machinima film to win a film festival, the comedy short Hardly Workin’ [Alternative link]. Even TV-channels have emerged from this.
Deviation is the title of a short movie entirely created remotely, i.e. all the participants have never met in real life. The “The Matrix”-like, existentialist plot is much like the successful Red vs. Blue, but is great fun to watch nevertheless.
(Perhaps I should try to write a script for a machinima…?)
