State of pop
What really pisses me off are TV shows like “Popstars”. People walk in from the street and get fed with record deals without having any true talent at all. This undermines the years of hard work and studying that thousands of real musicians goes through and worst of all, the public in the end does not take music and musicians seriously (as if they did on beforehand) as a result of this “expert-degrading” attitude.
Real artists don’t get prime time any longer and the record companies are shooting themselves in the arse foot by involving themselves in such short term moneymaking schemes (take a look at the power of the Indie labels out there, for example - they have the real talent mass in their hands). True talent require hard work and studying in order to become successful and now everybody think they can become a hero in a couple of weeks.
And if this continues we will end up with stagnation, mass produced factory pop and thereby the death of an art form that has been with us since the dawn of time. But if art has the power of being the mirror that is held up towards society, the leaders of the world would probably dig it big time if it would disappear. Take a look, for instance, at the American music videos depicting the slightest attitude against the war in Iraq that were banned from public appearance.
Shame on you who support this crap.
